Following the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, may God protect him, the year 2026 has been declared the “Year of Family” under the theme: “Growing in Unity.”

This declaration represents more than a national occasion; it is a reaffirmation that the family is the fundamental building block of human development and the deepest pillar of social stability. In the United Arab Emirates, development has never been separated from values. The family has always stood at the heart of the national project, shaping a balance between authenticity and progress, and between openness and identity.

The Year of Family is a call to rediscover the small, everyday moments that give life its deeper meaning: sincere conversations, shared time free from distraction, mutual support across generations, and the awareness that family stability is not automatic, but the result of continuous care and conscious attention.

It also highlights the vital role of the family in building a cohesive future—one grounded in the values of belonging, respect, and responsibility—while strengthening society’s ability to navigate rapid change without losing its identity or balance.

The “Year of Family” is not merely a title for a new year; it is a vision for a future built from within—from strong households, a cohesive society, and a nation that grows ever more resilient as its families become stronger and more united.
